this is exactly what i’ve been saying to the people who speculated that cheol’s uncle is his biological father since those comments first started popping up, some people have such simple and not toxic families that they don’t understand that you can be hated and despised so much by someone you share blood with, even by your own parent. But i come from such a toxic family, on both sides of my biological family, so i know and understand very well how parents can hate their child/ren more than anything in the world

For anyone who wondered, cheol’s dad obviously hates his own brother so cheol looking like his brother made cheol a target for his hate. I know it seems too simple of a reason but it’s not. Siblings can really be ruthless when they hate you, and yes they can hate you. I’m only saying this because people kept speculating that the uncle was actually cheol’s dad and that’s why he gets abused. He’s not cheol’s dad. It seems that he’s a responsible person who definitely wouldn’t have left cheol or his mother in his brother’s care if he was his actual son. But he really loves his wife, is faithful, and is a great person who loves cheol like his own. Even his own wife treats cheol lovingly too. Cheol mentions that. Cheol’s dad already gave away earlier in the story how much he hates how cheol resembles his brother. From there, I could tell it was a reason why he ignores and abuses cheol. I’ve seen stories like that before. Cheol’s uncle appears to feel bad that his brother’s hate has spilt over onto cheol. He pities his brother and cheol, here. That may be why he tried to stay neutral and lent a hand to cheol when he could. That’s why min-young’s words before the flashback jolted him out of the neutral state and into finally fully wanting to everything he could to protect cheol and no longer his brother.
