While an Alpha's canines are designed to bite deep and bond, an Omega's canines are often sharper and smaller, making the bite less permanent. It may require repeated "remarking" to stay intact compared to an Alpha's claim. In short, a omega marked by an alpha usually has a deeper looking mark while an omega marking an alpha looks faint(being bitten multiple times will sometimes work).
Agree with you, I'm quite confused as well. If I recall correctly, Grayson explained this (Kiss Me Liar), and called omegas 'ruthless' or something along those lines because the rules of mating marks in this universe are completely flipped from traditional tropes. If an Alpha bites an Omega, the mark is only temporary. To make it last, the Alpha has to constantly re-bite the Omega. An Omega is the only one who can place a truly permanent mark on an Alpha. Once an Omega bites an Alpha, that Alpha is permanently bound, and their pheromones are locked to that Omega alone. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Zigs universes is different the previous comments are describing the gender structure for omega verse the default plot but in zigs universe omegas have the power when it comes to the bite when an omega bites an alpha their bonded until the omega or alpha die the alpha CANT have kids with anyone other than the bonded omega but the omega can have kids with any other alpha so Keith was looking for the omega that bit him because of the restriction Alpha Marks aren’t good they only stay if the omega wants it to if I remember correctly Grayson explained it in KML to yeonwoo when he was talking about angel (Keith’s omega dad) now thats a lesson on zig verse

can someone remind me why they immediately knew joshua was an omega after seeing his mark? are omegas the only ones who can be marked? i seem to remember keith from kiss me liar being pissed because he was marked by an unknown omega (which he didn't know was yeonwoo at the time)
