Heartbreaking but so beautiful. A slice of life in a seaside town. Controversial for sexual themes (ie two kids and it's 'too realistic') and talk of suicide. I'd heard a lot about this one and glad I finally got to read it.
I feel like im a bit young, and inexperienced to find this story a masterpiece, or to relate to this manga like other people can. But that doesn't mean that i enjoyed it all the way through. ugh, i just love inio Asano's art style. its so anime-ish but, realistic looking. His like one of those mangaka's that have such a unique art style, but too unsettling different the first time you see it. I think this might be one oh his work that i actually like, unlike goodnight pun pun. (I have my reason for saying that.) its like one of those manga's you read every year.
It left me with physical pain in my chest. It hurts and the thing I loved so much about it is how realistic it is. It was just two terrible people doing terrible things to each other, they were just using each other to fulfill their sexual needs and it was only until the end that koume realized she loved isobe but by that time isobe had no remaining feelings for her. And what happened to isobe?
Is it weird if I say I love this story? Cause I truly fall in love with it, everything happens for a reason. Isobe can have a happy life but he chose to revenge, his brother's love haunted him. He can't heal himself so he ends up being hurted even more... Koume now can learn how to love fully but I think Isobe always has a place in her heart.
I’ve read a lot of fucked up stuff but this just made me uncomfy. I liked the ending but was it really necessary to go through all that “shit” () to get there? Mangaka def got some weird thoughts floating around in his head, and I don’t think I’ll be reading more of his works.
i'm really conflicted about this one..... asano, ily, but idk idk... also i knew there were some sex scenes but,,,,, not THIS detailed (and kinda uuhhm kinky? fucked up??) and especially between characters so young '-'
It's so depressing i had to stop doing my chores and stared at the wall instead. Well i looked up some explanation on the ending, the outcome is, isobe could be in jail ever since, the two couple kissing by the sea at the end is not isobe and the girl in the photo but just a mere addition to touch the protagonist past, the "person" isobe kept seeing and the head appeared by the sea is his imagination of his dead brother, and lastly the point of the "girl by the sea" which is the girl in the photo is a subject used to develop the protagonist emotion or growth (kinda?) Im bad with words, anyway have a good day ahead, don't think too much about this manga like i did lol
