imma make a trigger list for yall bc i legit cannot.
abuse, specifically by parents and significant others
neglect by parents
underage x adult (age of consent in korea is 20 and the adult fully acknowledges that the 19 yo is a kid to him)
grooming
selfharm and suicide
i really thought this was gonna just be a nice highschool romance but the grooming /pedophic abusive relationship was a l o t of the story
i likes how the mc told off his groomer at the end but the mc was so unlikable after he got with him even after they broke up readinf this truly wasnt worth it yall saying this was cute r on something

I won’t lie I only read for the sake of nostalgia. I read this as a 13 year old and remember crying and silently screaming. And it was one that I really liked, I even made a few edits of it. Now as a 19 almost 20 year old, I don’t like this story. I cried way more reading it this time than I did at 13 (I cried once before and this time would cry multiple times). I believe it’s because of my experience with suicidal people from middle school that I currently do not have a good tolerance with them. As well as the fact that I didn’t understand the concept of rape when I read this before, and now know better, that he was in fact raped. Anyway tldr: Used to like it but now don’t.

The side stories? Trash. The translation? Inconsistent. The plot? Annoying.

This story started out so fucking good, I loved the initial dynamic between Min Gyeom and Chun Sam, so the way it quickly unraveled and kind of fell so hard is incredibly disappointing. This could have been a great story. Instead, we got a whore protagonist and a whore love interest both of which had severe medical retardation that would have just ended up getting them euthanized if this were the nineteenth century.

At the beginning of the story, I loved the way everything was slowly developing. Min Gyeom was a human with a rare disease that caused him to constantly have excess blood, while Chun Sam was a vampire. They end up having an arrangement where Min Gyeom will offer himself up to Chun Sam for . . . Well, I don't think there was a reason. I don't think there was a trade-off, though I'm not sure if I'm just merely misremembering. Either way, that dynamic is what sets off the whole story and I loved it deeply. It was simple, it was cute, and there's an inherent sense of eroticism to it that the story sadly does not take advantage of.

It's a tiny thing but really, if you're going to make a story about vampires and have the act of sucking blood be so important to the plot, but not have even one scene where it's sexualized . . . Why even bother with a vampire story. What a huge missed opportunity.

As I was saying though, those early chapters shined. I was thinking this could possibly even end up being a favorite if it kept up this stride—it didn't.

What really brought this story down was all of the contrived miscommunication, but especially the one plot with Min Gyeom & his coworker.

Min Gyeom ends up confessing to Chun Sam, and Chun Sam, being the retarded ape child he is, ended up tripping over his words and rejecting him. And so Min Gyeom instantly, like literally within the same day, goes to his co-worker, sleeps with him, and then the morning after starts dating him. That whole plot, the way it began, unfolded, and even the resolution, was just insanely annoying to me.

Min Gyeom ran to him the first chance he could with his legs wide open. Unlovable slut uke who will die of aids.

Mind you though Chun Sam isn't any fucking better. Those extra chapters actually completely assassinated his character in a way I so rarely see.

So Chun Sam starts dating Min Gyeom, and he gets a little insecure. He doesn't have experience compared to his boyfriend . . . So he goes to his fucking friend who's essentially a stranger and wants to "practice" 'deep kissing' him. And then a few chapters later, he agrees to go on a blind date with other people because he doesn't have the spine to tell them no . . . Fucking what? The story treated this like learning curves but these aren't fucking learning curves. It's common sense. Does being a vampire mean you're also a retarded slut?

Those side chapters left such a bitter taste in my mouth. Doesn't help they had some of the most contrived miscommunication and irrational insecurity ever, too. Fucking hated it.

Honestly this is my favorite webcomic of all time, it’s a relief to find one with characters that are actually complicated and without overused tropes. I personally found that I could relate to a lot of their issues and all of the turmoil made it all the more satisfying when it all came together at the end.

1/2/23 so much unnecessary fighting and I think Mingyeom actually had depressive and anxiety disorder so 4 stars
