I don't think Shiba is ugly, BUT he's definitely plain looking, compares to the cool Akiyama :) maybe it's because his hair style and he's being shorter. Who knows?!! Maybe once he hits the growth spurt and change his hair style...he'll be more 'edible' for the hot Akiyama kun :P But the softy and romantic Shiba is really sweet <3
Personally, I understand why Akiyama attracted to Shiba, sometimes it's not about appearance, but personality and compability are the most important thing, also opposite attracts, right. And like he said...Shiba's being 'weird' will never make him get tired of Shiba :)
As to why Akiyama chose being uke...I think it's more about letting your self loose in some side in his life, and maybe somehow unconsciously, he trusted Shiba to 'love' him in his own way....eh, Idk :(
