Hong has been his brothers replacement with the director and adoptive parents. We know what the director did, I am guessing his time with his adoptive parents/ what happened was not the flower road his brother had in mind. So there might be some resentment for taking his brother's place for all his life's misfortune? He also has a complex for being mistaken for his brother....

I'm pretty sure the one time he was with the director was 'cause Hong was curious/didn't want Chung to get in trouble for what he did and was mistaken for Chung when he went in.

I'm not sure what happened with his parents but I'm p sure he probably wounded Chung so that they wouldn't be separated but it backfired when Chung suggested they adopt Hong instead 'cause he didn't want Hong to get mixed up with the director again.

Hong has a lot of resentment but a good portion of it is misguided on his part-- Chung had no direct dealing with any of the crap he went through and is basically projecting it onto Chung to make himself feel better. Hong literally told Chung to do "whatever he could" to get Sha Hu Rong to sign the contract with his dance company. He treats Chung like garbage even tho all he wants is to make sure Hong his safe and living out his dream as a dancer. He even endured being drugged in brutally raped for countless days 'cause he didn't want Wong screwin' with Hong's career.

He's a piece of crap that needs to sort his head out.

The older him is certainly heartless and he's convinced himself his brother deserves it. When he was younger, however, it's a completely different story. He took chung's place when visiting the director cuz he couldn't bear to wake his brother and thought it would be fine to take chung's place for the punishment. Even after the abuse continued, he never peeped a word to his brother. He wanted to protect his brother in his own way. I'm not sure if he did stage the accident so chung wouldn't get adopted, but as hong walked away with his adoptive parents, you can see how he tried to be strong for his brother. There've been hints that hong's adoptive experience wasn't stellar, for which chung feels guilty for ('was I the one who took away your smile' ch. 36). I personally think he has nothing to be guilty for, and Hong's resentment is misguided. In both cases where hong was a victim, he had been his brother's replacement, so it's easy to think that if he weren't his brother's replacement, he wouldn't have been hurt. That's extremely misguided cuz the ones who hurt him were his abusers, not chung. He also very likely developed a complex where he needs to assert that he is better/ different/ special etc; he can't stand being mistaken for his brother. It's why he tramples on his brother at every turn. The both of them are victims and the exact details that explains why they've estranged from each other is still not revealed.

Hong had been abused for much of his formative years, it def fucked him up terribly. In all honesty, it's so very easy to be like Hong and self-destruct: where you turn into something so hateful/ spiteful and can't help but lash out at your loved ones. Hong needs professional help and that's all I have to say for his character. As for Chung, he is hong's stronger counterpart. He's been similarly abused, but he's able to rise above it all. Idk where that strength comes from, but he's all the more dazzling/ precious to me. He displays a strength not many can display. But it also worries me that he keeps all his pain to himself. Seriously, almost everyone needs to have some sort of professional help.

I know they were both raped by the orphanage director. When it comes to the adopted parents I haven't seen anything about them yet. So far therape after orphanage is the only thing I can see. But Hong doesn't know that his brother was raped as well.

So far it's been subtly hinted about Hong not being happy with his adopted parents. But don't really know the specifics. Hong learns about chung visiting the director just before he leaves with his adopted parents.

Hong not liking his adopted parents doesn't mean he was abused. I don't think he knows his brother was raped by the director as well. If he did he still being nothing but a complete dick. Because if he did know and he still treating him like this there is no excuse. All Hong does is take, manipulate, and hate on Chung(probably spell this wrong). He has so much to Chung that he broke and lost everything (self worth, dreams of a future, freedom, and even his health) he has nothing because it all goes to Hong. Because of having to works all the time he only has that 1 friend who comes to him and his 2 bosses. He has no free time to go out and play. He rarely get to go home and sleeps at his night job. He calls to check on Hong but get nothing but hate back. Hong doesn't check on him or cares, all he does is use him and see you soon as a thing not as his brother.
