It actually displays the traits of a rabbit well. They are the epitome of an animal of prey. Total cowards who will give up and except their fate of being eaten immediately if caught. A wild rabbit will sometimes kick, scratch and bite in dire situations, mating or in protecting their young.
But in the case of a weasel; they are small but extremely violent predators. They can easily kill a chicken or rabbit despite being smaller. They can also hold their own with a cat or small dog. A rabbit has reason to fear a weasel.
