Since you're actually monitoring this, why don't you sign in and ask me your questions properly instead of hiding behind condescending anonymous notes? The answer(s) might be interesting. For the record, I don't have the power to "force" other people to delete their comments and have only sent polite requests to remove spoilers. Hello my lovelies! Translator daleemon here with a PSA regarding translation word choice/accuracy/political correctness:

1. Raindragon and I are INCREDIBLY excited to bring Deadlock to you!!!

2. Rest assured that my translations are nothing less than professional. I actually triple check my translation across three languages (all official) for Deadlock, since the series is special to me and hopefully many of you as well. I also happen to interpret/translate on the job all the time, so I am confident in my work. I like to think of this project as my community service Call it a hobby or whatever you want. I'm just doing this for fun.

3. Regarding political correctness, the more easily offended would be absolutely aghast if they were to read the original in Japanese. This is a story that takes place in prison—prisons are not known for being safe spaces. If you take issue with our word choice, you should also take issue with the story and the genre of BL itself in the greater scheme of things.

4. If you don’t like the story, then go find something you enjoy! Sunk cost is a fallacy.

Tl;dr Me translate good. Don’t take it out on our work if you just don’t like the story—prison’s probably not your cup of tea.

Just adding my thanks for your work--I have been hoping for this! Considering buying this in Japanese just to have a physical copy and support the mangaka--but my Japanese is so bad. People like you are angels. <3

Oof, Saki Aida is tough in Japanese. So much police/detective/yakuza/whatever jargon to break down and digest, but it's worth it. It also makes a worthy goal for your Japanese studies--you know you've pretty much conquered it when you can read Deadlock.

Not in the least! When romanizing a "long vowel" in Japanese, you can a) repeat the vowel, b) add an 'h' (less commonly 'u') or c) add a macron. All three are acceptable ways to represent the "long vowel" in romaji. Using 悠人 (ゆうと) as an example, Yuuto, Yuhto, and Yūto are all acceptable romanizations.

Hi there, I wasn't sure who's wall to post this on so I've posted on both! I just wanted to say I really appreciate the translations from you and Raindragon for Deadlock! They're really high quality and it's obvious you put a lot of thought and work into it - I also really love the extra pages with the reasonings on why certain translations were added or changed, it's really insightful. And the joke translations too, that made me laugh a lot! So thank you very much for making my day!

On her tumblr, she has a post for ch5 saying please someone volunteer to help clean and typeset ch5.
grr. she has not done anything on deadlock for over a year. I don't know if she's starting up again because she's like dicklock and once she sees someone else doing something, she just can't help but copy. . . even though she's had no interest in ages, or what. I hate these jerks. LOL so negative. she's on mangago as tzaol

Just saw this now. Prod raindragon...nicely. The translations are in for chapters 7.5 through 9. I'm almost done with 10 and randomly did 22. Raindragon does the heavy lifting in putting the chapters out. Look forward to the next release very soon! Thanks for your loyalty~
