Really think it's just the artist having fun using his other characters. Of course at first I thought this story took place before Eden when they mentioned Kanako Oomori. But showing Tooru with his scar would mean it took place after, if it's the same Tooru. Which would be weird since he's dead.

actually I forget if Tooru is already dead or not because I only remember the scene when he part with another because he's dying (⊙…⊙ ) and this mangaka mention many of chara in cage of eden so I think this manga take place after they escape...

or maybe this is an AU wso it explains why the 'dead' Tooru still alive... (▰˘◡˘▰)

Yeah he had the building collapse on him towards the end, and then in the last chapter they talk about how they buried him. But maybe he's one of the black cloud people, and that's how he survived and now works with UD
