Use the "Reading" or "I want to Read" buttons - they should keep you updated (It also works for "I Already Read" buttons) But you won't get a notification until the next day as it only seems to update once a day. Hope that helps.
Yes, you can bookmark. Just go to the manga you want to bookmark and go to a chapter and on the upper right side (next to the page number is the bookmark). I'm not sure if you get a notifications though, since it's more used as a way to bookmark a page you last read or something.
