I am someone who used to love reading yaoi but after being a victim of sexual abuse have I not been able to go enjoy yaoi like I used to. I cannot simply choose a random yaoi anymore and start reading. because so many of them show scenes of rape and I cannot handle that. I am saddened that yaoi depicts rape as a good start for a relationship. I really wish this trend would stop.

hello, sexual abuse victim here as well. i really feel you on this. i strongly advise reading the tags first before diving into a manga because some of it are indeed triggering. as for me, i cope differently. a lot of us do. i use dark fiction that depicts my trauma so that i can cope, and it really //really// helps me feel better. fiction never equates to reality, just because the author draws rape doesnt mean they condone it in real life. i feel as if they draw it to cope as well.

As a last remark, maybe don't start with n°1 on the list, but rather 2nd, 4th, 8th and 9th that have a very progressive escalation towards falling in love and making love
