cute paranormal (bisexual) love triangle-ish story with three former childhood friends and in the middle is the guy who had no idea what is really happening. hideyoshico always incorporate elements in her story that will make you think a lot and let the fans think freely about what happened in the end so some people misunderstood (let me explain): A guy wonders about love. As if by destiny, he came across his childhood rival & sweetheart who are now together... or 'was'. At this moment ken is yet to figure out his connection to this couple. Ofc mi-chan is actually a girl like nobody expected & most likely since she's a girl, grew out of her old bullying ways but still has enough spunk (she is quite the tomboy from the looks of it) to come on the stoic (but actually just shy) guy so now, they are in some kind of mutual affection. But she died. Enter kentarou. well, since the two boys did not know each other's past connection and both were straight or so they think, author portrayed them being all awkward of this gf/bf possession play. HOWEVER, despite disliking each other at first, they started to develop feelings to each other from all this mysterious happenings. Ken starting to think more about hikaru. And yes, even in hikaru's side too. The keyword here is OVERLAP (check page 90. hikaru is being conscious of ken, and i daresay sexually conscious while feeling the guilt). The affection he felt for mi-chan who is using ken's body and voice is blurring the line bit by bit. and i think it's sweet and cute.(p.124: that was totally them on a date) ken is reluctant despite now knowing hikaru's identity because he is a kind guy like that plus his zero confidence. mi-chan is an important factor on getting them together since she's the first one who realized their bond. Both boys are kind of timid not to mention the gender barrier that prevents them to see each other as a potential love interest so her straightforwardness helped the two timid guys. Also, as the present-day ex-gf, her approval mattered a lot for both so that they could move cleanly. It was open-ended, not rushed. i'm totally okay that they will start their relationship from square one after mi-chan crossed over. only thing is mangaka should make a second volume. *Btw as for the bullying it's freaking kiddie kindergarten bullying. It matters but the characters knew that they were just babies at the time.
