I really love how the (initial) relationship was depicted. That's exactly how an abusive relationship looks like, all the way to the part where the seme guilt trips the uke by saying shit like, "Go on, I'll just be alone again."

HOWEVER, I am very disappointed at the conclusion. It was clear that the cousin (and the uke!) understood how dangerous the relationship was, and I thought that either (a) the cousin would take imperative action and break the two up, or (b) the uke would confide in the cousin and come to realize that he needed to get away from the seme, his feelings be damned.

But the cousin learned to "accept" the relationship. And instead of appropriately portraying an abusive relationship, the manga glorified it. It was so obvious at the the start that the manga understood abuse was wrong, so I kept hoping it would end in a manner that would discourage it, not fuel it on...

Read Mitasareru Kuchibiru, http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/mitasareru_kuchibiru/ before ya'll start ragging on this story squawking about "Glorifying Abuse". This type of situation is more common then you might think and the portrayal is quite realistic. The seme was a victim of a form of child abuse for his entire life and had no friends or adult guidance to help sort out the difference between right and wrong. Not agreeing with his behavior at all but I was able to understand him a lot better.

In this manga he's still the abuser though, it's his younger brother who is the one abused by him?? How is this a defense?

    Bullshit

I can't understand the reasoning of hurting somebody just to get out the rage, he's not even angry at the "right" person. I don't understand why the uke would be attracted to such a fucked up guy. The seme was seriously crazy and manipulative from the very first beginning.

  8. Lost-Fudanshi October 20, 2015 5:52 pm

The seme hasn't changed, he's just hibernating. All it will take is one little misunderstanding-such as Hatsuki getting home late one night, and the seme will think he's cheating on him and fly into a rage again. Hatsukoi will probably be in and out of the ER regularly for the rest of his life -which probably won't last long because the seme will probably kill him during one of his rage sessions, within a few years of them living together. This is what happens to real life abuse victims, and I hate that this story glamorizes it.

I know this is just fiction, but sometimes it's impossible for me to detach myself from the fact that this stuff is marketed primarily toward Teen Girls, and I really wonder what some of the authors are thinking with that in mind...??

Honestly hated this story. Basically glorifying abuse in the worst way possible. I don't want to hate on it entirely though, because I really liked the cousin and the friend. Really wanted a side story or something for them.

He kinda looks like he's bipolar. He should get himself some clinical help.
And i wish the author had one one omake to see what they look like as a couple afterwards!
