I have ten very personally significant tattoos. All are in discreet places and most people can't believe I actually have ten! I have my husband's signature; done right before he deployed to ME (he's home safe now). My kids' names. A celtic mother's knot. Semi colon for awareness. Celtic saying for true love. Black and white intertwined heart (my husband is black, I'm white). His initials. A small phoenix. And a large phoenix on left ribs. *** regarding names: BE SURE IT IS SOMEONE YOU WILL LOVE FOREVER! I didn't tattoo my husbands name/initials until married for 18 years! And I will always love my kids! *** other advice; research your artist, don't just choose the shop on main street that seems convenient! Also, don't be trendy...trends pass and then you'll feel foolish. Make your tattoo personal and special to you; make it something you will feel good looking upon! Don't get one spur of the moment. My son is 18 and he had to sit on his idea for tattoo for at least 6 months and research. Tattoos are, generally, forever...so it should not be a whim. It is your body, treasure it with special and unique art that makes a statement about you....or don't! There is nothing wrong with not having any either!
