This is a novel, not a manga, but it's worth it. The prose in the English translation is sometimes clunky and there's A LOT of info dumping and backstory in volumes one and two that you have to wade through. But underneath all of that is a compelling story of a combative romance between the two main characters, who are irresistibly drawn to each other. And damn, Munechika is hot, hot, hot.
Not really my cup of tea, idk if anyone else thinks the same but I'm tired of the typical "abusive yaoi" trope. Munechika raping Shiiba while the other is drugged, hurt and begging him not to do it? It was sickening for me, horrible, I couldn't keep reading the whole thing after that; I can think of better ways to get out of there without that unnecessary abuse. Then again Shiiba is abused with all the damn piercings and agh, disgusting again. Idk the plot was good, detective x yakuza is always interesting but again is the romanticized abuse in "yaoi", like Asami raping Akihito and then the Chinese guy raping him too but later they are all friends and this was forgotten
Vol 3 Shiba bothers me, he’s super emo sometimes and does really dumb things. Munechika on the other hand is super adorable. He’s only done a few things that bother me. Once Shiba gets his relationship with Munechika stable, he’s gonna get really cute. I want more of how he was at the end of volume 2. (Vol 2)
So many moments that kept you on tenterhooks. Great drama, intrigue, enough sex without being inundated and a great outcome. A truly good read. And the few illustrations that there were, was beautifully done.
