I know this manhwa wasn’t a new one, and maybe no one would read this, but I wanted to justify Jaehee’s seemingly confusing response to two specific scenes during the story. Please don’t read this comment unless you’ve finished the part where she met the journalist for the first time, unless you don’t really care about spoilers.
People don’t understand that many girls grew up while never getting properly educated on how to deal with sexual assault - and that was shown in this manhwa, in the scene with Jaehee’s sex ed teacher from her childhood. It is clear that as an adult, she could tell right from wrong, what proper consent is, and how people should behave - like in the scene where she gave the childhood friend dude a lecture, but reality is far from the theory she knows. Faced with an actual assault and having zero self defense mechanism, confusion and fear froze her. She didn’t know how to fight back, which explains why the thought that went through her head when she was assaulted was that she wanted it to end quickly. I’m glad she never ended up actually getting raped in the end, or this story would’ve taken a much, much darker turn.
Also! Misunderstandings could also lead to unintentional assaults. Education on consent is incredibly important, but you should always look out for yourself out there, no matter what gender you are. Don’t place yourself at risk like this Jaehee girl did soooo many times in this story!
