Ok so hotaru had a BFF in elementary who used to like a dude calllledddd 'boy 2' but due to misunderstandings BFF thot hotaru also liked boy 2 but in reality they were just friends which led to BFF cutting hotaru hair. Now hotaru lived with this trauma as she grew and didn't grow her hair long either but then saki kun comes in and confesses that he likes her. They go out a few times and start liking eachother. Saki kun has a bg of usually being too intense with his relationships and girls usually break up with him. His parents are doctors who vinteer abroad so they don't rlly have time for saki. He had an old dude who he used to consider a friend when he was young cuz he taught him abt love and friends and all tht and how to get thru it. Now they start dating and end up working at the same store and turns out boy 2 is also working there so the whole love triangle thing happens and by now also hotaru and saki are couple. But we get past the triangle with boy 2 having unrequited feelings and the couple progressing in their relationship. Now turns our saki kept a secret that he used to go to the same elementary school as her and had witnessed her crying and all tht drama of her hair being chopped off and he regretted that he didn't help her thru it. Saki had always looked at hotaru in elementary and liked her a lot but they didn't rlly get to friends cuz he was too scared and thot he wasn't worthy of her. Now present time the BFF who cut hotaru hair shows up and saki makes it his mission to prevent the same thing to happen and he didn't want hotaru to cry like tht again so he tried to threaten her to stay away from hotaru but hotaru witnessed tht and started crying and then they had a break where saki had started changing and improving by establishing friendships and was able to get better as well as hotaru. So they got over this obstacle and saki met hotaru parents in the very last few chaps and turns out that the old dude he used to consider a friend who used to give him advice back then was actually hotaru's dad's father so basically her grandfather and thts where the chap ends.
