chiba and her multiple attempts at a gaslighting into detransition speedrun
ngl I'm disappointed at how transphobia is framed in this manga, it's depicted as this completely natural response, especially since multiple positive characters still propagate it, and it's only condemned when it's a part of bullying.
The only adult trans person is a predator, and has a predator for a boyfriend
This author has an issue with confusing gender identity and sexual orientation(having trans women call themselves "gay" because they like men, or "becoming" women because they're gay) and it seems to be a bit better in this one, even if there's the whole part about Yuki becoming a woman FOR shii-chan(and not for herself) that I found strange.
Having the only existing trans masc character detransition later on was also weird, especially since Takatsuki had gender dysphoria even before puberty, which only intensified during it, so their experience was closer to a typical trans masc person than a typical detransitioner.
Overall while there were some relatable moments, taking in the whole manga made it feel like the person writing it only kind of heard about the experience from other people and didn't really try that much to properly understand it making it feel very half-assed

It's so sweet I cried at the ending though it's not sad. Truly a beautiful story.

The more I read it the angrier I get... maybe it is because I just got to read Shimanami Tasogare and Hanayome wa Motodanshi, but I cant help to think that it is fucked up in many ways and a BIG fail... The author is making money on trans ppl while dennying them. Takatsuki even tied his breast and was so disturbed about his period... The author choosed to show all the signs of disfory then choose to denny it all. I dont get it.
PS: Oh and I HATE that sister to guts!

i have a certain opinion about this manga. since the start ive been shipping shuu and takatsuki so im kind of disappointed they didnt end up together. it bothered me how much of casual transphobia there is (i.e using the t-slur and all that). overall it lacks some things and isnt such a good book for trans kids as there is so much transphobia even by nitori's friends and the use of transexual instead of transgender. and yeah takatsuki the supposedly trans boy is actually a cis girl after all so no representation for us transmascs here

when i first read this, this manga struck me like no other. the plot becomes messy in later chapters but there is just something about this one...

Shuichi Nitori is a 5th grade student who likes to bake and has always been something of a feminine boy. When he transfers to a new school, Shuichi is mistaken for his 6th grade sister on his first day. Then he ends up sitting next to Yoshino Takatsuki, a tall, boyish girl who everyone calls “Takatsuki-kun.” They both have secrets they can’t let anyone know….

I liked this but it starting getting really confusing as it progressed. Also I found it really uncomfortable when yuki's boyfriend straight up groped takatsuki so casually.a lot of weird and uncomfy things in this but I think it was a good story

I loved this manga is really cute and really sweet, I believe the characters are well developed and it trully feels like growing up with them. The flow is also like growing, when you are growing the days are slower and you take longer to understand thing and as get growing those things change.
I think is really noticible on Saori´s personal growth looking at the Saory from the start side by side to the one at the end they are really different people, but at the same time they are so similar because they are the same person at different stages in life
Personally I think it would be unfair to say is not properly written because Takatsuki ends up being cis, for what I have seen and even expirinced at times, is that while growing up girls don't want to be associated with anything related to femenine things because it's assosiated with a lot of things you "can't" do or you should't do, with using clothes that might be not that confortable or let you move freelly and in those instances you realice is easier to be a boy, they don't have this many societal rules they have to follow all the time and when growing up you realize that a lot of things don't matter that much, like what people expect from you, and you start to go through a discovery and acceptance process in which you define yourself.
On the other side I really loved anna and shuichi relationship, because even that one time they broke up, they always cared about the other, and even if they rarely show any physical contact you can tell they are really atracted to each other.
And last but not least I believe Maho is actually a good sister, they both (Maho and Suichi) are really egocentrical yet they both in their own way try to be there for the other, I believe Maho is in this constant state of filling disgut toward her brother, not exactly because he is dressing like a woman, but because he is going against society rules and standards, which makes him put himself in ugly and dangerous situations. What I percieve whille reading the manga is that she dosen't want him to go throw all of that and would like him to act "normal" because he wasn't able to be born a woman.
Okey, I lied, last thing, I really loved Doi, it's a really well done character and on the other side Sasa-chan makes my hearth warm she is so cute and friends with everyone and Sarashina too, she is so fun and really easy to connect with.
In the end I finished reading this really happy about all of the protagonist and second characters, beacuse they seem to have grown, everything they have gone throw was not in vain and they look happy, but not like a happy ending type of thing, like actual life, the last moment we see tham they are content and they keep living their life and growing into their own person without us knowing what the future holds for them.

This was…..wow….it’s just such a realistic representation of finding your gender identity. This really hit home…. This has to be one of my favorite manga’s thus far honestly. I really do wish we could’ve gotten to see a little more lol
