Another example of a decent story arc suffering from what I call the "Weekly Shōnen Illnesses". It drags on and on for pretty much at least half of it. The main characters love each other madly and will eventually end up together. Which is of course clear from the beginning, since this is a standard shōnen, so it's really not a spoiler here. But the story always manages to postpone their confession with all those cheeky tricks. They finally recognize their mutual love in the 87th chapter. Yes, that's right. That's eighty seven. You can imagine that this gets very annoying pretty fast. Generally, most of their actions, especially of the male main character, don't make a lot of sense. At least the second half gets a bit more interesting. And the artwork is on the better side. It's not a complete failure and some parts are pretty decent. But in the end it left me with an uneasy feeling. This is not really what I take for a "happy ending". And I wonder if it wouldn't be better, had it turned into a tragedy in the end. But then, again. It wouldn't be a Weekly Shōnen Jump story if it did.
