ML was just a bit to peremptory and randy to be a sympathetic character. He also switched moods at the cyclic rate, which would drive anyone insane. Also, I don’t really understand the laws, if any, concerning Italian nobility and whether such property is entailed, but I’m pretty sure that even the former duke or prince couldn’t pass his title to his stepson and bypass his own heir. His palazzo could possibly be left to said stepchild instead of the lineal heir. Whatever the law, Daddy Dearest was as stupid as they come and a rotten parent to boot.
