I love all of the characters but I hate Naoki. He is awful to Kotoko even when they are married. She deserves better.

She could've been so much happier if she was able to move on and come to love a man like Kin chan or something, I watched this anime back when I was teenager and found it romantic and funny but now that I see more I feel like Irie kun is horrible to Kotoko, giving her up any minute by any excuse..to add onto that -never shooing off the girls who come onto him. She deserves a better man that would be unwilling to give her up like she is, someone who'd only have her in his eyes, who would be left miserable by her disappearance. .not someone who would still be going on with their arrogant attitude nonchalantly even after she leaves. She should've really left him for good, reading this after so many years finally made me understood too.

One of my TOP manga / anime choices! I know the concept is slightly outdated but it's still a beautiful masterpiece! Totally worth the read and watch! If you enjoy romance manga or anime this is definitely an amazing one!

Playful kiss This one is something I can't helpbutlive and hate. Part of wishes for her to fall out of love and finally let him regret. This romance is very unrealistic I feel. But that's the charm ig

ANIME

I thought it was so good when I was little but looking at it again, he is such an asshole. Like dude really flirts with other girls in front of his wife and then treats her like nothing. This ML is honestly my biggest red flag.

I finished watching the japanese version drama "mischievous kiss 2 : love in tokyo" and guess what!? I couldn't leave them, I miss them so much! Yuki furukawa as Naoki matched so good!
I became emotional at the ending while he smiled brightly with all his heart and called Kototo--
--"kotoko!"
--"what?"
--"nothing"
It's just playing on my head over and over.

That's right, like many of the other readers I find that I dislike the ML. However, I also dislike the MC! Their characters are, in my humble opinion, horrid. I preferred the romance surrounding Yuuki, the ML's younger brother, more!! Spoilers and further explanation supporting my opinions below!

This seemed to be a slow burn till the ML uncharacteristically proposed to Kotoko abruptly. They briskly married and their relationship, throughout the duration of the several volumes, only changed slightly. In the end, the ML was still cleaning up the MCs messes, and he continued to treat her most egregiously. She could never trust him, and he provided little for her to trust in. The FL was incompetent in every way but made up for it with determination. The ML was immensely intelligent but terrible at displaying his love, clearly. Hell, he slapped her when she expressed her valid concerns over whether or not he really loved her because he sure as hell did a shitty job of demonstrating that! There is no way to justify that, even if she was tossing books at him.

Meanwhile, the ML's mother kept shoving the ML at the FL, so there's plenty of reason why the FL might assume that Irie didn't truly love her, and there's plenty of reason for the ML to maintain his distance.

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy flawed characters and I especially love partners that fill each other's faults. But the main bone of contention I have here is that they really don't do that, and the characters remain stagnant in growth. Aihara is challenged many many times, but her character falls right back into the same loop of chasing after an Irie she can't trust. The manga folds around Irie so that every time he is clearly cold and rude, there is some justification that makes it so that Aihara is the 'bad guy,' and for that reason, Irie sits comfortably in his character. He's always right. When he just seems to open up and gives her a tender kiss, a new chapter begins where he reverts to being cold. When Aihara just seems to develop, she snaps back into the same desperate girl she was at the start of the series.

And when I say they don't complete each other, I say this mostly because the manga unfortunately reached no conclusion. I can tell that it was moving in that direction— the ML was revealed to have gone down his profession because of Kotoko, we start to see how she changed him and provided him with E.Q; Kotoko headed down her nursing path with his help. Just because two characters who have the ability to fill each other and are put together, doesn't mean they do. Both characters need to learn from each other so that they don't snap back into that cycle (i.e., Irie becomes more emotional, Kotoko becomes more intelligent & aware, anything really). My favorite part about this is that before Irie met Kotoko, he did not know what he was going to do in life, whereas Kotoko was dead set on following Irie till death and supporting him no matter what position she chose. The main pillar present in this manga of how these two completed each other was how Kotoko provided Irie with a direction, and Irie had unconsciously done so for her as well. However, I feel there should have been more.

Ironically, while I acknowledge and enjoy how their career choices demonstrate their ability to support each other, I personally hate that Kotoko's dream was just Irie. Girl, a man shouldn't be your world. You should live for yourself. That's just a personal complaint though.

That doesn't mean that this manga wasn't "good" though. I enjoyed seeing their married life, shoujo manga tend to end after high school, and I like how genuine and real issues came up (even if they weren't properly addressed).

6.5/10.

Ngl this is rlly giving sasuke x Sakura vibes bc of the relentless pushing but eventual love. Just like sasuke shows his live subtly towards Sakura, I think the same goes for Naoki. He is a bit of a beige flag thou tbh.

Ch. 78

I hate Irie's personality and I hate Kotoko's personality. Well, it's good afterall. The author shows you the bad side of each personalities and what you will gain because of it.
