I think it's rather ridiculous of the father to be against his son's happiness for the very same reason he had to be unhappy for in his past... If in his past he and his lover's lives had to go through so much grief, all he had to do now that he saw his son about to do the same, is to NOT DO what forced him to go through grief... you know... being fine if he marries a "commoner" *flips table*
Apart from that, I really, REALLY liked Kazuki, how confident he was and how he didn't falter from his feelings, he was pretty straightforward, quite patient and respectful.

My favorite part of this whole manga is the way the artist captures a truly loving gaze. It's the closest to the real thing I have ever seen in any manga.
