Chapter 5 clown guy made me cry

All the characters looked the same! Drove me nuts.

Skipped chapter 5 but I skimmed and it didn’t look as dark as some of her other ones. But OMG!!!! CHAPTER 4!!!!!! EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rest of the stories were so good too I feel so spoiled~

ch.3: mysterious bank robbery. #ojisan manager x bank robber i wish there was more of it seme was so sexy and the way he told he is gay made me feel like fan girling all over him
ch.4: former workmates. #reencounter. the other now became a manager. #bickering lovers. It was sweet
ch. 5: heartbroken #ojisan chief x security guard #abuse #bittersweet. They left it incomplete i wanted them to meet back in real avarar not that joker and make love
ch.6: salaryman taking care of his former boss. #alcoholic #divorcee x #yandere. It moves my heart so heart breaking and heart warming at the same time
ch 7: #ojisan widower finding solace on a male subordinate what was this? No plot random 5 pages

I really wanted more of the first story.

I loved this collection of stories. The only reason this is rated so poorly is because the art isn't to everyone's tastes. The drawing isn't bad, precisely, but it is crude and eschews the basic pretty-boy aesthetic pervasive in BL. I wrote extensive summaries/reviews of the individual oneshots below, so check them out if you're on the fence.

1) An older consultant who likes to sleep with younger men at the companies he works for finds himself hanging out with the middle aged manager. Unexpectedly, he finds his tastes turning towards older men, in spite of his best efforts. I loved this story: it is somewhat slow in its build for a 70 page arc, and while it isn't perfect, the writing is always top-notch and she always picks topics and character types you don't see very often in BL - or manga generally. This one manages to be funny, mature, and sweet. There is a coersive-ish rapey scene when one character tries to distract the other out of despair by molesting him, but nothing that bothered me too much. 4/5

2) A story about a bank manager and an oddly chivalrous robber. It is utterly fun and kind of sexy, and the fact that the bank robber is missing a tooth is one of those touches that is so very characteristic of this mangaka, and I love it. 4/5

3) One of the mangaka's patented bickering office workers stories, which are always good reads. Work, pleasure, and interpersonal relationships are blended seamlessly. While this isn't her best salaryman story, it's well-written and fun. 3/5

4) This definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea. A strange and bittersweet story about a troubled workaholic with a bad personality who picks up an eccentric and obsessively loving security guard. A well-paced story about an abusive relationship that doesn't moralize or overplay its inherent pathos, a tinged with a lingering strangeness that makes it memorable. A rare BL that trusts its readers, preserves some narrative ambiguity, and doesn't overexplain. 5/5

5) A salaryman repeatedly plies his alcoholic, unemployed former coworker with booze. This is a mature, sophisticated story about an addict and a manipulative enabler. It's remarkable, being both a BL that deals somewhat seriously with substance abuse and has a hopeful and thoroughly well-earned ending. 5/5

The collection is topped off with a mini-oneshot straddles the line between comedy and pathos, and not altogether successfully. Still, refreshing and unusual. 3/5

Altogether, this collection is a delightfully varied feast with writing that ranges from sharp, sexy comedy to poignant and mature drama effortlessly. A perfectly balanced selection of stories dealing with subject matter that isn't tackled very often with intelligent execution and thoroughly satisfactory conclusions.

Compilation of good stories. Ch 5 is the saddest. I need him to be able to realize that the clown is the one who is looking for
