A very sweet little story in that true ‘slice of life’ style. Fresh from school in the country and newly independent in the big city, the uke in this story is adorably clueless about so many aspects of adult life. Despite this, he has an admirable core of determination and strives so hard. I found it sad because his parents recently died, his sister married and moved away, and he had no phone or way to keep in contact with her or any of his old friends. He really was like an abandoned puppy and there is no place like the city to really feel alone. But this guy persisted, got a job and caught the attention of his good looking and surprisingly protective neighbour. What followed was a sweet story of new feelings, confusion, misunderstandings and love.
Following the death of his parents and his sister's marriage, a young and clueless man decides to live on his own. He's saved from his constant yet endearing fumbling by his neighbor, a kind-hearted member of a theater troupe. A sweet love story with feelings that really jumped off of the page!
A recently orphaned 18 year old decides to move from the countryside to Tokyo, where he takes up residence at a run-down apartment with paper-thin walls. The aforementioned walls become problematic when he realizes his next door neighbor is a gregarious actor who is very loud. Things get even more complicated when the aforementioned neighbor decides to take the hapless country boy under his wing.
Full disclosure: I have an oddly specific weakness for manga that take place in run-down boarding houses. Having said this, it is a fun and light-hearted manga with a nice buildup and sweet characters. The drama stems mostly from the main character's struggles as he tries to carve out an adult and independent identity for himself in the big city, a theme that is foregrounded and developed fairly well. Apart from this and some endearing side characters, there isn't all that much remarkable about this. It is good, clean fun; recommended if you want something light-hearted with a focus on romance that also has some other themes. No rape/dubcon.
Shinohara Satoru has moved from the country (and newly wed sister) to a 6-tatami mat apartment in Tokyo in order to achieve his dreams of independence. Izumi Yuushin, his new neighbour, tests that resolve to the limits as he is aware of all Satoru's shortcomings on the personal responsibility scale. How's that? Well, Yuushin is a free spirited kind of guy himself, and moved away from his own doting mother in order to perform as an actor in a theatre troupe, and it isn't as though he wasn't in that same boat himself, once. The gay attraction business is just a side effect from being caring individuals, but the free-spirited acting stuff throws enough doubt into this idiot couple's miso soup that there is actually some conflict, resolution and plot to go along with this little family soap opera.
