This is underrated it’s a classic comics, beautiful, a tragic past and especially it’s reality of how gay people strive for acceptance even to this day.
Literally my favorite yuri, I’ve actually read it a total of 5 times. Something always keeps me coming back to it, whenever I’m feeling like shit BAM go read Moonlight Flowers. I think it addresses complex relationship between lesbians and straight men quite well, surprisingly analytical at points.
Ch. 1-3 Moonlight Flowers - Story of Sahoko and Kaoru. Ch. 4-4.2 Midnight Flowers - Inter-linked to the main story. Story about Saegusa and Kayako. Tragic outcome.
Note: it also includes Flower Demon (Not scanlated).
After reading this story it made me glad that I'm an american, and thanks to those courageous women liberators who made it possible for me to chose whom I love and marry.
I usually don't say this but this manga was absolutely powerful and ahead of its time (the 1980s). RIP Mutsumi Tsukumo. I loved this wonderful and moving story that got me thinking about the fluidity of love and women's forced roles in society.
