Second time reading because I forgot to rate it before. It's pretty sad, but very unique story view.

the plot was good but it's kind of unsettling bc the setting was during WWII. nazi was keeping a jewish pianist under his care. the ending wasn't thoroughly explained.

Sad story really, but I keep coming back to it, finding it interesting,.. To think he wanted to control the beautiful things so much that he would destroy it rather than setting it free

The story felt a little rushed and unfinished, no doubt because it had been made a one-shot. However, I felt the story could have been great if ‘fleshed out’ a little more. There was just too much story and not enough space to fit it all, so it felt disjointed (constantly jumping from between scenes prevents the drama from having as strong a impact as it could have and makes the story a little harder to follow, preventing you from fully immersing yourself in the story) and alluded to past events without fully explaining what they were or what they meant,. The drama would also have been more powerful if it had told the story leading up to these events, with the descent into the Nazi’s violent treatment of the pianist and there could have been more story added to the end so that you wouldn’t feel as disappointed at the end.

Too much and too short to be appreciated.

I want to learn sender's art style. It's so beautiful, clean and mysterious.

don't come in here expecting "the pianist"-lite. this hews closer to "the piano teacher" in tone. sadly, it doesn't have the delicate touch a psychosexual drama requires - just sadism in excess. slap, here's your torture fix. have some heavy-handed self-loathing on the side

This one was beautiful. As a one-shot, the plot was simple, but it felt complete. And mein Gott Ernst has beautiful hands! 10/10 would read again.
