I've never felt so complicated reading about office romance bl. their characters is unusual. as in not acting like how people inlove would act. to make thing's easier to understand, yes they do like each other even before they become friends with benefit. only difference is that, one is not aware or he's aware and head over heels but not really want to take initiative but at the same time acting cold, while the other one is hot and cold, indecisive, he's interested but doesn't want to get to deep and also not taking initiative. the only reason they end up in bed together the first time is bc of coincidence? i guess. and that he's drunk and making a move on the boss without meaning too. i guess what i wanna say is that, we're seeing and reading this from 3rd person perspective, we were not told fully what these characters feeling and thought, so like me it left me confuse like what's going on, why they act like this and that. its a bit frustrating to read but i don't hate it. in mo eyes, xiao doesn't like him, xiao act cold and set a clear boundaries, which is why the already cold mo not dare to say anything despite feeling so strongly towards xiao. but mo did show concern and care quite obviously and it painful to read when xiao don't want those concern (xiao is not aware of mo feeling either bc mo always act cold) that cover art definitely not fit for the story. the characters is ambiguous as hell, not cheery happy angry embarassed vibe like the cover art.
my conclusion, I'm not sure how to feel about this manhua. its unique, like how they're so un communicated, distant,push and pull,hot and cold. its not stressful to read (like manhwa, where the drama is extreme) but definitely not a comfort read. theres is not a single fluff moment, unfortunately. at least that's how it is for me. i did not expect this kind of read, at all. it leave me such regret reading this. but i don't hate it. its the fact that i never read something like this before that I'm not hating it. i think thats the same for everyone else reading this manhua too, they're not exactly satisfied with the ending but at the same time can't hate it either. if this is the delivery that the author trying to achieve, then i assume it worked. because nobody really hatin on this blindly. so its kinda give new perspective, i guess. idk how to rate something like this. and lastly, something like this can't really be re-reading. i won't read it again. I almost want to compare this with Banana Fish, but I've reread BF before, so BF is better than this, i guess.
So happy that the one that looked like the bottom ended up being the top. I love when stereotypes are not used in the yaoi mangas. Also i am super sad for president Mo, he needs a happy ending, he tried to change and become very nice. Secretary xiao doesn't appreciate him. I will be taking president Mo to myself
Ok it’s a great story, funny and interesting. They do set up some ploy lines that don’t get finished- like the two side “couples” mostly, BUT THE ENDING!!! I’m fuming. WHY COULDNT THEY HAVE AT LEAST SHOWN IF MO SAYS YES TO WORKING AT TGE RESTRAUNT like wtf do you mean it’s over oh my fucking god. I am in love with nuonuo’s mom tho she’s so cute.
i think i would have really liked it if the story didn't get axed and we got to explore mo and nua's stories and motivations more. this left behind a feeling of emptiness sort of? aside from that, mo embodies the subversion of relationship tropes i 'm constantly looking for
