Pietà is a very depressing story but at the same time a tender one. Sahako and Rio complete each other, they saved each other, they are each other’s purpose. Such a beautiful and emotional story

It was kinda slow paced for me but it goes along with the story which is beautiful and realistic. A lot of people wanted them to get sexual but like hellooo she’s gone through so much give her a break!

If you are dealing with things like s3lf h@rm or su!cide this one might be something you research before you read BUT I did enjoy this short story! I enjoyed it mainly because things do get better for the MC and mental illness is portrayed a lot better here than other pieces of literature I've read.

This is a beautiful piece of literature here, the way it was written is just amazing, plus the art truly compliments the atmosphere the story is trying to tell. I'm surprised that this hasn't been adapted to an anime or tv drama yet. Overall I'd say it's perfect, but nothing is trully perfect in this world

Absolutely wonderful, it made me cry, i got mad, sad, happy, I was a roller-coaster, I was absorbed by the story, the chemistry that they had was so powerful, they were like magnets. Their relationship was so pure and strong and the parts where they were just enjoying their company was so heartwarming. Definitely amazing manga
I was so mad that Shugeko didn't burn in that house tho. That would be better.

A very wonderful piece of manga. I liked how the author expressed the ideas of the characters etc. I liked how both of them seem like they are meant for each other.

"I had been thinking that we would meet again someday without fail" - Pietà* is a great psychological, dramatic GL, which, in spite of being a sad story, dealing with serious, heavy issues such as self-harm, suicidal thoughts, attempted suicide, parental abandonment, emotional abuse etc., is charming, touching and heart-warming. That's because, while perceiving the uneasiness of certain moments, we also feel the tenderness of Rio and Sahoko's sweet moments and we're comforted by them. Personally, I really liked their interaction and what they achieved in the end! Some people think that in the end it felt ambiguous, but I don't think that's the case...the bond they created is stronger then anything else, and I believe it'll be an everlasting one, and in the future they'll continue to support and believe in each other, so I'm pretty satisfied! Also, there's this thing, which I'm particularly fond of, that is the so called coincidental meeting/chance encounter which turns out to be a fateful one, so I really liked this story. Actually, I feel that it's not entirely correct to define this manga as a GL. I mean, reading this, you're not just reading a GL, but more like a story in which there's also GL. What I'm trying to say is that you don't necessarly have to be looking for a GL to read this...for example, if you're looking for a psychological, mature story, you could read it as well. So, it's recommended to everyone, not only to GL lovers. After all, regardless of gender, this is a story where two people, with different circumstances (one with complicated family situation who wasn't truly loved at all and one with a harmonious family who was loved too much), are brought together by fate and they finally move on hand in hand towards the future...and that's simply beautiful and inspiring!

*The title of the story is what caught my attention at first, reminding me of Michelangelo's sculpture. Then, after reading the T/N about their pose at the end of vol. 1, I really think the author must have taken the title from it.

I loved this story. I'm glad they're able to support each other in the end. The stepmother reminded me of the parent who blamed Machi for trying to smother her baby brother in Fruits Basket. I kind of wished that the father had gotten mad at her or something after hearing her make up stories but ugh. What can you expect with parents like that?
