Realistic and bittersweet. I feel like if you experienced such great loss at a young age, either you grow to be resilient or you stay broken for a very long time. These kinds of stories prove that there are no certainties in the world and whatever you desire in the future can be broken that's why it's always good to live life to the fullest and do things that gives you memories, may it be good or bad. I guess all of us has gone through pain in any way, shape or form and dealing with it takes a lot of time and depends on a person on how long they will hold on to it. In Saku's case, it took him a pretty long time to move on. I was even happy that at the end it shows that he has somebody by his side to share his life with. The part where he opened up about Aki to his new girlfriend and showing her about the ashes was really brave, he even expected he might get dumped. People could take it differently too - jealousy or deep love. I am glad we was able to finally move on, spread the remaining of Aki's ashes to the sky where she will part, and hold on to memories (good and bad) that they have together even though soon he may forget. But in the time being he was respectfully paying homage by going back to his hometown and letting it all go to start anew.

I read one of the comments that said that he shouldn't have married. I think it's alright that he married, that woman probably played an important role in him healing. Just because the love of his life passed away, it doesn't mean that he should grieve forever and never be given the chance to find new happiness. Finding or loving another person in his case would not mean that he loves her less, but it's because he found acceptance in moving on with life knowing she'd be happy to see him happy. And she still has a very important part in his heart. Although I would say all that if he truly loved that girl (his wife I think), but if he's using her only as a means to cover up his feelings that's another story such as him saying that by the end of his life he hopes to see her. In what way and If Ever, how will he be to him? The forever love of his life or as a friend?

This is a definition of true love and the end is acceptance and understanding

Adapted from Katayama Kyoichi's popular, heartbreaking novel called "Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu", which was also adapted into multiple live-actions (Japanese movie and drama, Korean and Chinese movies).
> Somehow, considering also the live-actions, this manga adaptation kinda felt like a summary. But it was still a beautiful tragic story!
