It’s just so wish-washy and bulldozes through its plot.

I really like that Hagiwara discovers his masochism through Takagi’s obsession with him and it was an interesting twist that he wasn’t actually in love with Takagi and just liked the rough sex.

But I’m not so easily convinced of Takagi’s transformation from a hardened gangster who doesn’t know how to be tender into this love-sick simp of a Yakuza.

I don’t understand why the Goto subplot with the rival gang was necessary, especially since his death didn’t spark tension between their gangs like you might expect, considering they occupied the same territories. In fact, the gang-warring in general is secondary to Hagiwara and Takagi’s relationship.

And maybe the whole point was to get Hagiwara to realize it wasn’t just the sex he liked about Takagi, but this is not a turning point since Hagiwara’s attitude towards Takagi still doesn’t change until the end of the last chapter, as the resolution to a completely unrelated plot point.

I really liked Hagiwara’s brief relationship with Yasushi— he recognized his former, scared self within the 5th Boss and sought to corrupt him in a way similar to himself. Yasushi eventually grows into his position, opting to find a comfortable place within this new world if he cannot escape it, and is even willing to kill Takagi for Hagiwara due to his grown attachment to him

This all makes me so irrationally angry with its direction, because it’s finally acknowledged that Hagiwara enjoys the thrill of being wanted yet unattainable— which is why he still wants Takagi in spite of not loving him— and yet in the final stretch he succumbs to his apparently dormant feelings for Takagi.

And I just think it would’ve been so much more interesting for Takagi’s feelings to remain unreturned, while Hagiwara continues using Takagi and Yasushi’s feelings for him to his advantage.

The art is hilariously awful and the story is bad

This Manga is twisted , dark and I couldn't hate uke cuz seme was the one who kept him by force hoping uke will love him one day but he won't and never will , it's an old manga people forget to see what mangaka tried to do her best in making a different story where one person couldn't love no matter what I know situations and seme stuckness towards uke is stupid af but still it's not romantic and usual manga ... But MANGAKA couldn't convey through her story what she tend to make in the beginning chapters may be that time people didn't like this concept back then and it didn't made much ... So it's lacking many behaviours of characters... Indeed it's old psychological Yaoi.

You join a family lawyer working for the Yakuza on his decent into the darkness. After he gains the attention of his boss, Hagiwara slowly realizes that he not only enjoys the pain he *needs* it to feel real. And no matter who abuses him it not enough, not unless its one man giving him that pain...

"The Gospel" is a really good psychological drama. it was a pretty painful reading because of all suffering characters caused for each other (plus pictures of blood and wounds). But actually one can understand thier actions. They are reasonable in twisted way, though. Seme used physical violance to get uke, which was the only familiar method to him. Also, considering Uke's masochism that might have been the quickest way. Uke used mental abuse to get revenge and destroy seme from the inside in order to ease his burden of unwanted relationship. So, I can't agree that uke is weak.
The moral: shitty relationships destroys both parties. Violence produces only backfired violence, so there is no sense in pushing your luck in case of one-sided love.

Just okay I guess. It was kinda of hard to read with the mixture of emotions jumping from fear, pain, pleasure, hopelessness, depression, satisfaction, and others. Did sensei awaken to his true self, did he not except love cause he was afraid of the man or himself, where are they going now, what will happen between the inner groups war.

I think Press should just really leave sensei. It's a quite good read actually but I can't sympayhize with sensej's feeling. Acting like a victim and all tho he's the one who's so manipulating.
