I believe the FL mom is somehow involved in her future advice and telling what happened in the future but formatted into a book. Also the father is nuts, what in the world was he thinking does he think the FL mother would be happy with what he did to the FL. No its clearly hint the mother wanted and loved the FL. As for the ML he is very possessive of the FL.
