Four stars is rare for me, but honestly, I found myself loving this. Especially after finishing it, the more I think about it, the more praise I have for it.

This story deals with two men, Akio and Umi, who deal with a similar loss of a relationship, but handle it in completely different ways. Umi is dealing with a romantic loss, a teacher who suddenly stopped their relationship and announced he was set to marry, while Akio is dealing with the loss of his father, who gradually started to remove himself from his child's life until he stopped showing, which completely changed the way Akio had relationships with others.

Umi becomes promiscuous, constantly chasing that need of wanting someone, of feeling appreciated, of not feeling alone. Akio becomes closed off, deciding he doesn't need a relationship, whether it's a friend or a lover. And this story is of that coming together, and becoming what each other needs. It's a very sweet story, with a sweet ending, and great character development. You really felt where both boys were coming from.

However, what keeps it from 5 stars for me is the initial impression of Akio. He's just kind of a cunt, to be honest, and that bitter taste never really left my mouth. But in the end, even with that, I did end up appreciating him as a character, and his relationship with Umi. It was very sweet.

That was a really beautiful read. I felt lighter after finishing it. It had heavy and sad topics but idk how to explain it... there was always a hint of hope? Hope for a better future, a better tomorrow. They both helped one another unknowingly and it helped them resolve or at least come to terms with their past. I really liked this and I still can't really put my finger on what it is. I can't explain it well and what I said before can't really encapsulate how beautiful this story was. It was calming and smooth
