the relationship obviously isn't good: ML shot MC, kidnapped him, raped him, and probably more I'm forgetting. But in terms of realism according to their situation (vampires, discrimination, isolation, psychotic obsession, trauma, yada yada), I feel like the story executed it fairly well? their relationship wasn't meant to be normal and filled with joy and whimsy, and I think (from what I remember) the author never really romanticized it (the rape)? they show how terrible it is, they display how bad the relationship is, but in the end, they only really had each other to understand and love the other person. idk if it's ok for me to say that there is definitely some Stockholm syndrome in this, but I'll say it. and I might take back this comment later idk bc I feel like I'm being gaslit into thinking this is pretty well written media, but idk...
