skipped to ch.50 for the hidden baby trope but OH MY GOD THEIR ENDING IS CHEF’S KISS!!!!
I hate any story like this because it is often the closest one can get to a child as a FL.
SPOILER
Ending is cute and all but I thought Kieron was crazy for constantly thinking Mel was going to leave… UNTIL SHE DID! Which i also thought was completely unnecessary to the storyline imo. Left for 3 years for what? And then it was just swept under the rug and not mentioned again like…

An Honest Review
This review is based solely on my personal opinion, and others may interpret this story very differently.
At its core, the entire narrative is built on romanticized Stockholm syndrome. That alone sets an uncomfortable foundation, but what makes it worse is that the story doesn’t seem aware of or interested in exploring the darker implications of this dynamic. Instead of examining the psychological complexity behind it, the relationship is framed as something emotional and compelling, which ultimately feels shallow and unsettling rather than nuanced or thought-provoking.
Despite having read far darker and more disturbing stories in the past, this was still an incredibly difficult book to get through. Not because of its subject matter, but because of how dull and lifeless the execution is. The pacing is slow to the point of frustration, and large portions of the story feel like filler rather than meaningful development. I found myself repeatedly forcing my way through chapters, hoping something anything would happen to justify continuing.
The male lead, in particular, is painfully uninteresting. I felt no emotional connection to him whatsoever, and every attempt to provide depth through his backstory only had the opposite effect. Instead of adding layers to his character or encouraging sympathy, those moments made me feel bored and irritated. His presence never evolves in a way that feels earned or engaging, making it difficult to care about the relationship or the story as a whole.
Overall, this book fails to deliver on tension, emotional depth, or character development. What could have been a complex and challenging narrative instead comes across as monotonous and poorly handled. By the end, finishing it felt more like an obligation than an experience, and it left me feeling frustrated rather than satisfied.
