Great manga, should be read before watching K the anime. This manga gives deeper insight into the characters and the story. The anime had received negative reviews for having a rather shallow story, but that is because the light novels, mangas, anime series and movies and even audio stories are all different parts of one big story. And that's what makes K UNIQUE!
So if you didn't like the anime for its seemingly shallowness, take your time to appreciate K's uniqueness by following the story this way:
• manga: K: Memory of red
• anime K - first season
• movie K: Missing Kings
• manga K: Countdown
• anime K - second season (K: Return of Kings)

Light novels are staged before the manga Memory of red, but along with the other mangas of K, are not necessary to follow and appreciate K.

So read this and enjoy~~ K is an action packed comedy with a group of asskicking guys. And a lolita

This was gorgeous. There was a thread of bitter-sweet through the whole thing since it's a prequel to a tragic story but it was still filled with warmth and laughter and all the good things as well as the angst and tragedy. Wonderful.
