The author had to end this early due to health issues, and the last few chapters are pretty clearly about how they wanted to continue it but were unable to. Particularly the very last chapter expresses the authors feelings through the characters. Tbh I think it was a good choice to end it like that rather than trying to rush & force a conclusion. It leaves it open to be continued if they're ever able to.
Honestly I was enjoying this more than the first series and I would've liked to see where it was going to go. It doesn't really close up any of the plot points that I felt were unfinished from the first series, but I'm willing to forgive it due to that being out of the authors control.
The characters are no longer students which I think makes more sense, since the school setting was barely relevant before. Being vigilantes suits the tone & world more.
Also! There aren't any weird fan service extras of the main characters in this one.
