i was a little hesitant to read this because honestly i couldn't fathom what this story could possibly be about (when i didn't even read the sypnonsis) but i'm glad that i gave this a go! it's a short and cute love story between a middle-school dropout and a delinquent-looking guy. the former dropped out of middle school after being bullied for being gay and having a crush on his friend, leading to him living as a shut-in for a year. to reclaim his life, he started by helping out at his uncle's convenience store, where he meets the delinquent. i love how the characters points out character cliches, for example, when the delinquent saved the kitten on the road. this sparked the couple's interaction, with the delinquent learning more about the drop-out and his story. one thing i really liked about this story was how the delinquent did not care about the drop-out being gay (despite people trying to "warn" him) and instead found the latter to be adorable. i also loved that he wasn't dense and quickly figured out that the drop-out likes him, which allows him to process his feelings and respond accordingly. the only thing i wished was that the author included what the drop-out did after he has regained his bearings – whether he went back to school, or if he started working full-time. but overall, very cute story!
