180926 (87) this was the most disappointing read ever. what a waste of time holy shit.. woojin is a total psychopath and i hate how the author tries to act like that’s CUTE or some shit. he has a history of violence since he was in kindergarten, and always resorts to violence when things don’t go his way. i swear haekyung actually has stockholm syndrome bc this shit is not normal.

poor haekyung was raped multiple times by woojin and yet we’re supposed to believe they’re a cute couple?? i’m sorry, but no. i won’t forget how every single sex scene between them at the start was just haekyung screaming “no” and “stop,” then FAINTING and then the psycho just keeps on going. it’s so disgusting how normalised this is in yaoi. genuinely so disturbing that somehow woojin is presented as the love of his life, when he’s just as abusive as his ex. just because he never punched haekyung, doesn’t mean he didn’t abuse him. he constantly manipulated and sexually assaulted him, and never felt even the slightest guilty about it. in fact, he thinks he’s somehow within his right to do so. it was genuinely exhausting slogging through all the rape.

the author actually struggles with cognitive dissonance or some shit because she knows that being extremely possessive and isolating your partner is wrong (shown through the toxic ex seunghyun), but somehow it’s ok when woojin does it? how are we gonna be so hypocritical??

now with all those things i hated about this manhwa, you might be wondering, “why did you continue reading?” well.. that’s because park kihoon, my absolute beloved. the best character in this entire story. and honestly this part makes me the SADDEST. the fact that i read ’til the end for him, only for him to NEVER GET A SIDE STORY.

it pisses me off so much that they teased the relationships of the side characters from the very start and yet we got absolutely nothing. like wtaf. why make the side characters such a core part of the story at the start, give them interesting drama, and then go absolutely NO WHERE with it. the fact that they decided to give the main couple an ‘age reversal’ alternate universe story instead developing the actual story more and finally addressing the messy fucking love pentagon of the housemates makes me sooo frustrated.

i feel like this story would’ve been really good if they didn’t just completely forget the initial premise of haekyung living with eccentric roommates and getting involved in their gay shenanigans lmao. like if it was one of those stories where it develops all the relationships and friendships between the characters. it would have been really fun to see haekyung gradually warm up to them, but he never gets the chance to bc woojin is possessive and makes him move out lmao. instead, we’re just TOLD, not shown, that haekyung is apparently sooo close to his roommates at the end, even tho he barely interacts with them at all. the author clearly had no proper direction going into this, so it’s just a total mess of a plot.

i hated how for some damn reason the author decided to make kihoon fall for haekyung. as if he didn’t already go through ENOUGH. seohyun, someone who he clearly loved a lot, completely misunderstood him and hated him as a result, treating him terribly over his own assumptions. then, instead of giving kihoon a happy ending (when he deserves it more than anyone), she decided to make him suffer from an unrequited love and heartbreak too. wtf man what did he do to deserve this he was too good of a man for the author’s taste or smth lmao. i wanted the love triangle drama so bad, and i ESPECIALLy wanted a happy ending for kihoon, but instead the author just broke his heart twice and called it a day :( #justiceforkihoon

it genuinely makes no damn sense that kihoon would fall for haekyung in the first place. he was CRAZY for seohyun. despite his endless struggles (his dad is sick and he’s poor), he was going out of his way for seohyun. did we forget how jealous kihoon was when seohyun even glanced in haekyung’s direction? you want to tell me THAT kihoon fell for haekyung? bullshit.

either way, between kihoon and woojin, i’d choose kihoon 5000 times over bruh. like honestly, the end game couples should have been the military guy x seohyun, and then kihoon x haekyung. it’s the way that in the first two chapters i genuinely thought that kihoon was the ml and was sooo confused.

another terrible thing about this, is that the supposed ‘ending’ of the main story was sooo unbelievably ass lmao. the most unsatisfying and ridiculous ending of all time. it was so abrupt and out of nowhere. HOWEVER. i think the author was suffering from medical issues, so that completely makes sense. plus, she ended up coming back 2 years later to make ‘side stories’ (but really they were just the continuation of the main story since it was never properly finished), so i’m pretty happy with how the main couple’s story ended now.

overall, this was an extremely amateurish read, and the only good parts about it were kihoon and the art lol. everything else was soo damn cliche and toxic. i might be back to read the rest of the side story chapters as they come out (they aren’t complete as of now), but i 1000% will never reread this dog shit lol.
