This is so PEAK!!! I love how the story seems to depicts the MC as being kind and vulnerable(maybe not so much) at the beginning but he turns out to be so wise. I love this so much. I want to read more!!!

I'm going back and rereading stuff I read years ago cuz I'm too lazy to find new things...
About as good as I remembered. The main standout feature is definitely the art. The colours are very beautiful & it's nice n whimsical in a way that I really enjoy. I also like how the magicians are like forces of nature. It really contributes to the fairtytale-ish vibe of the entire story. Mostly the atmosphere & aesthetic of this story is what I'm a big fan of. The actual plot is alright.
Biggest thing that bugged me was the orientalism & how people with darker skin were treated. All of the characters with darker skin (aside from the old winter magician, if I'm remembering his design correctly. But even he was like "shifty n suspicious" so ehhhh) are killed & only exist to die and move the plot forward. That just made me raise an eyebrow idk I found it odd.
Also is the magician technically the chef's grandfather? Magic grandfather.... This isn't really a complaint I'm just curious LOL
