“Strange things are beginning to occur in town, and all seems to be related to a memory from the past that has haunted Ryuusuke for years. Can Ryuusuke solve all these strange occurances before he's driven to madness?”
―One of my favorite Junji Itou’s work. I might be a little biased since this was one of my first mangas hehe. Story intrigued me all throughout and it’s very unique! And is it even a Junji Itou work if there wasn’t an ambiguous or open ending?
“One night, senior high school second-year Nishina Airi is abducted. When she wakes, she is trapped in an uncanny, isolated space with other students from her high school and forced to take part in the “Werewolf Game”.”
—The story has three parts actually. The first one was imo better in plot and art, same goes with the second one. I personally didn’t like the third one but preferences ig. Anyways these are pretty short.. around eighteen or twnety chapter
“Glamour model Alice accepts the job of a lifetime for a fashion shoot on an Island unlike any other. Along with her cohorts she must survive the freaks that terrorise them”
—The plot was so-so, but I added this here since the art was pretty fucking good. The pages with the cover art had a realistic anime-ish vibe to it which I liked. The story however just has lots of gore for shock value lol
“Shoutaro is a man of few words. He manages a used books store called Mononobe Koshoten and has an efficient young boy named Shiro to help out with the work while he reads the day away. But behind this normal and mundane facade Shoutaro has another job: the collection of some rather unpleasant old books”
―The story has an interesting approach on its plot. Character designs are striking in a way, along with its characters. Mediocre art but I can’t judge more—still ongoin
“The father is unemployed, the mother ran away, leaving the children, bullying at work ... Despite all this, he does not lose hope and continues to live for her sister. But having learned that she did not have long, Makoto falls into despair. Fear of the unknown causes him to take a different look at the value of human life.”
—Basically a gory time-loop story. So far the premise is simple and interesting. There’s only a few chapters up however.
“ A woman accussed with the murder of her husband even though she is innocent. Later on gets into a mess once she is released. That is when she went to investigate her husband's murder”
―Lots of gore. The story is engaging and the character designs, especially Box, are quite simple yet nice-looking. The backstories of the characters somehow makes you understand why they do ‘that’ for a living. Anyways would recommend, but only season one is up.
“Jin Seon, a highschool kid who was an accomplice with his serial killer dad. As Jin Seon falls in love with a girl who was next target spotted by his father.”
—This was really fucking good. Intense and intriguing. At first I thought it was boring and cliche, but as time went on, the characters were actually more complex and developed than I thought. The father made me uncomfortable in a way that you know this guy could manipulate you any time and fuck you up. Art is alright
“When a family of three book passage on a luxury liner they soon realize that the glamours cruise ship is nothing but a facade as a series of mysterious killings spread throughtout the ship. With the sea proving no escape, how will they survive?”
—Honestly the plot and concept is interesting, however it’s a bit fast paced. I didn’t really get to be attached with the characters. The art is pretty good, especially the covers tho!
“Brandon saved Andy's life when they were children, but this heroic act caused him to get epilepsy.10 years later, Brandon has found himself with Andy, who has been taking care of him, letting him indulge in his drinking problem and satisfying his sexual needs.”
―No romance! Gruesome and gorey. I only added it here because I liked the semi-realistic art style which compliments the story’s tone. Though this is a pretty good read if you want something short and disturbing
“Makoto used a "book for summoning a demon" and did a ceremony, successfully summoning the beautiful Archduke of the Demon World, J”
―One of my favorite mangas honestly. The art was captivating and the worldbuilding was just enthralling. I wouldn’t recommend this to people who have a sick stomach towards gore and weird demon smex. Twisted lead chars and their interesting dynamic. Good read
Tw: body horror, gore, leaning on psychological than romance
