Added bc I've read the novel (nothing sad has been adapted yet). I have never cried and rooted for a MC’s happiness so badly until I read this. If you want emotional damage this one's for you. HIGHLY REC THE NOVEL BC YALL ARE IN FOR A WILD EMOTIONAL RIDE.

Just like ORV, nothing sad has been adapted yet, and is only here bc the later part of the novel was depressing. There’s some pretty interesting plot twists so I’m not spoiling it, but damn was not expecting it to end that way . (there's spoilers online if youre that curious)
Also this isn’t translated, so you have to MTL it :’-(

A boy continues to confess to his classmate that continues to reject him
Already knew where this was going but WAS STILL SAD AT THE END. Although a bit repetitive I hope this can turn into a movie one day.
One day, a group of high school friends receive letters from their future selves
No matter what I read I always side with the 2nd ML and there has only been one story so far where the 2ML actually wins, this is not one of them . I cried so much for Suwa, the kindest character in the story.
Anime and live action
A friend attends his best friend's wedding
An unrequited love tale that ended exactly as that, but was happily surprised to find out there is a much happier sequel for this oneshot

A boy finds out his classmate’s secret
Unrelated, but I remember watching the anime 'parasyte' and when I first saw the title, I thought it was going to be horror and did not expect this sad story. I was already expecting the ending bc of her disease, but it was still sad none the less.
Anime and live action
love triangle surrounding a married man w/ a terminal illness, his cheating spouse, and his physician
Has all the typical manhua tropes but was written very well. If you want to cry every chapter this one’s for you. I think I used up 2 tissue boxes reading this

a boy and a girl on their way to their next life
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this author's works. They specialize in oneshots that show reality in the realist but bleakest way. I've just added a few of my fav stories from this amazing author. I love this author bc even though I know the ending will be sad, the ending always strays from my expectations.
