Every year, Lord Nicola A. Bradherley, one of Europe's most leading aristocrats, sends his coach round to various orphanages to adopt little girls and train them to join his opera troupe. But most of these girls never make it onto the stage...
It might be an acquired taste, but thought it was a good read. It's dark and grueling themes, made me feel pretty empty after reading it all.

I hope they both lead happier lives in their next life
Two children unexpectedly meet in the midst of war and come across a long empty road. W/ no adults to rely on, they walk side by side to see what's at the end of the road. All they hope is to keep being able to move forward.
The irony of the description ending. I'm going to pretend that this story ends at ch 16 pg 36...bc why, but this story was very beautifully written and really puts wartime tragedies into perspective.
A twenty-year-old with little hope for the future discovers a shop that buys lifespan, time, and health.
It wasn't sad but more bittersweet, still added bc I thought it was a nice story
Amy is an ordinary girl who lives with her beloved father. However, she is not human, but a doll made up of cloth and cotton.
Kind of reminded me a bit of Pinocchio, but the ending was bittersweet
The story of a sister and here disabled brother
the plot twist at the end was the cherry on top of turning this into sad straight to depressing
a collection of 4 oneshots that take place during each season of the year, ch 1 is the reason why it's on the list
I remember reading this in high school and was sad bc the ending was so bittersweet. I will low-key forever blame that kid LOL
anime movie
premise in the title "Your lie in April" About a piano prodigy and a free spirited violinist
I read this while this was still ongoing, not knowing this would end in tragedy. This was one of the very few stories that I really wished did not end the way it did. And that's why it's so sad bc everyone was rooting and expecting that happier ending.
anime and live action
a middle school class that accepts a girl with impaired hearing
I remember first reading this as a oneshot, and it was later serialized and later adapted. Really glad this story became more popular bc it really is well deserved. This is a story that made me cry bc I can never wrap my head around bullying, But glad it ended on a happy note.
