Insert Leslie Knope "I... sad." meme here. But it's Park Ji-Yeon and we simp for them so what's new? Their characters are always so diverse and interesting and these interwoven stories are only a testament to that. It's a very different feeling from Wolf In the House, but definitely a must-read.
When we say Fuck Cops! ACAB! we didn't mean literally go fuck a cop! However this story still holds together very well. I have not read the novels and I'm scared they're written by a cop sympathizer or something, but this comic? She can get it. I love the art style, the chemistry between the characters, the artist has animal physiology down pat and it's impressive. It's sexy, cool anf fun and I really wish they would adapt more of these stories into comics!
After only reading Dear Mr Rain and Dear Hatter I was going to write a completely different review. Something like "Gays be like YEARN, gays be like Hands". Satoru and Ryou's story was beautiful and bright, hopeful and inspiring. But now... I've started The Speaker and... I'm in pain. This second story is dark, gritty and haunting, but terribly compelling. My soul feels heavy as if I'm trying to carry the trio's pain, as if I could even begin to understand it.
I shouldn't have to leave a review, that's just how popular this manhua is. Imma still do it tho.
Reading 19 Days feels like getting swept away into this dream-like state where you can be young, gay, stupid, full of hopes and dreams, set in what feels like and eternal summer full of promise. The author plays it just right, always toeing the line of will they won't they kiss and be gay to avoid the chinese censorship police, but it leaves us readers wanting more.
To say it's 19 days but make it Lesbians would be an oversimplification. Yes, it does give off similar vibes, but it's much less ambiguous as to the characters' relationship while still maintaining the slow burn, which is very satisfying to read. The story goes like this: Jock lovestruck by Femme, awkwardly makes a first move, they build a friendship and fall in love while navigating school life, friendships and family. It's wonderful, read it.
