Favorites

Ah, the first manga that ever made me cry. And in, what is for the most part, a comedy! It was blatant emotional manipulation but it was built up well enough that I can't be mad about it. Another favorite couple.

I like this one a lot. It's a sweet little story about a guy who feels responsible for a mover getting injured because of his clumsiness and falls in love with him while trying to make it up to him. There are a couple of lines that definitely made me laugh out loud. The stories I like the most tend to be the simple ones, where you just watch two people falling in love with minimal if any drama. This is one of those.

This is one of my favorite multi-couple stories set around one central place, in this case a bakery.

An action comedy of the gangster/cop persuasion. If you're in the mood for that, this is definitely a good one. I also like the art.

As much as I seem to have a preference for first love stories that end up with them staying together forever (I'm here for wish fulfillment, whatever), I do also enjoy a story about letting your first love go and getting an emotional clean slate for a new love. It just depends on how it's written. This is written very well.

These two are the only ones that, for me, could give Rutta and Kodama a run for their money as my favorite couple (the former got to me first, which is why they get the edge). This one is super long and every single moment of it is completely sweet and fluffy. Minimal drama. A little character development here and there. But mostly it's just a really cute couple being really cute. That's more than enough for me.

Simple, sweet fluff about a guy who loves but is allergic to rabbits and his crush on a guy who owns a shop that sells rabbits. Hard to imagine how it could be cute given that premise.

Pretty damn funny. The drawing style lends itself well to comedy. The secondary couple is by far my favorite part of the manga, though. They're so incredibly sweet. Such a nice turn on both the love at first sight trope and the fact that they're both older.

Oh God, I love this one so much. It's such a simple little story about being lonely and unexpectedly finding love. The ending panel is probably among the most touching I've ever seen. It's beautiful.

One of my favorites. This drawing style was a lot different than what I'd been used to up to this point, but I was brought around to it by the end. I love this couple. Among the tropes that will always get me is the one where someone who has had a lot of sex falls in love for the first time. This is that done so well. When he tries to articulate it to his partner...damn, it gets me right in the chest.
