A very well told story that takes you into the lives of 3 broken guys. The depiction of drug use was dark and isolating and there was an overlaying sadness to the story that was inescapable. Read this if you want something special and different.
I enjoyed the story, it covered a lot of ground in 5 chapters with the murder mystery and the budding romance between the job focused (for sure somewhere on the autism spectrum) and blunt spoken Tsutsumi and the PTSD suffering, masochistic Sakuma. The artwork was beautiful too. Both Tsutsumi and Sakuma really looked like detectives in their suits and I liked the haggard look of Sakuma when he was struggling.
A bunch of dark and even depressing stories. Twisted relationships and imperfect endings, these were interesting but not something I would read again
Yuuma (26yo)is an easy going guy who works at an amusement park known as "Dream Park". His home is in the staff dorms and when his new roommate, the gentle Shikiori Kazuha (26yo) moves in his normal, peace filled days are about to become a lot more crazy. Especially when he meets Shikiori Rei (26yo), his arrogant and possessive new roommate.
I loved this story. The art, the wonderful characters, working with such a challenging topic within the confines and restraints of a BL manga. A standout s
Kuchisake-onna or Slit-Mouthed Woman is a malicious spirit from Japanese folklore who terrifies with her frightening appearance. At least she did until she tries to scare 13yo Sano Kouichi who is remarkably unimpressed by her terrible visage.
The story was really quite adorable. It’s not Shota, the age of Kouichi is merely from their first meeting and it spans the years until he is 28.
A gritty and painful story. A life in the Yakuza is stained in blood and this story was drenched in rape, loss and death. It was very well done, but it sucked.
The dark and sad backstory of Haruko Chouno from Chou to Hana no Kankeisei. An upbringing like this is going to mess with your psyche, but it was well told and establishes Chou for the next volume.
Trigger Warning: Dubious consent
Story 1 with the sliced up and self centred host and the muscled bodyguard who wanted to be at his side was rather messed up. Apple wasn’t very likeable and the bodyguard’s actions during the attack made him rather awful too. Though they ended up being good with each other, their relationship left a bit of an unpleasant taste.
Story 2 with the call boy forcing the straight host was not one for me. The call boy was seriously unlikeable and there was no caring b
Spoiled son of a business CEO, college student Tatsuki is a hotheaded rich kid tired of sleeping around with girls. After his friends suggest he try a guy he sets his sights on Miyako Hirota and finds himself drawn into the web of a high functioning sociopath. Lots of twists and some mind games in this story. Miyako is not very loveable, but he is absolutely obsessed with Tatsuki in ways he himself finds disconcerting. I liked that Tatsuki was no easy pushover but at the same time he got swept a
Trigger warning: Rape
Ouji no Hakoniwa: This was quite a dark story and the mangaka really did well sharing the pain felt by the broken Yuzuru. No longer the young master, Yuzuru was used to doing what it takes to get by. He was so tough yet fragile, I really felt for him and absolutely hated Iwase when he raped him too. All that TLC, ruined. Definitely a psychological aspect to the story with a Stockholm style relationship though the extra chapter lightened it a bit.
