This was my first ever manga and there's a reason this is the best selling shoujo of all time. HYD has spawned countless live action dramas from different countries. Admittedly, this is an older series, but it's incredibly enjoyable. It's also the source of many romance tropes.
I adore the main character, who is conscientious and introspective about what love represents.
Ito and Makoto have the best relationship. They support each other and endure countless shenanigans for their love. I haven't read the sequel for fear of ruining one of my favorite pairs.
This is the classic definition of slice of life. It also contains a butt ton of Japanese historical and cultural details not offered in a lot of manga. The art improves over time, but focus on this gem of a story about family, friends, and love. The ending is somewhat disappointing, but realistic and that makes it harder to accept that it's over.
After much shoujo drama in my life, I needed to cleanse my reading palette. This did not disappoint. It's very sweet and endearing.
What a comedic rollercoaster! I also gained life saving tips in case I ever became shipwrecked. This is a slow burning romance.

The most cerebral manga I've read. Honestly, I got confused at some points. Very philosophical and I ended up sympathizing with Light because his intentions started out idealistic. Does that make me a bad guy?
Good ol' adult rom com. Since marriage, I find myself laughing at this harder than when I first read it as a teenager.
This is a silly arranged marriage with the MC having two personalities, one to snag a prince and the other is her true self.
