premature lore, worldbuilding, archetypes (style and story)
concept; directorial treatment
clunky storytelling and dialogues; insincere worldbuilding and characterisation
unique abilities; cohesiveness with flashbacks and backstories
concept and premise
rocky start, the author doesn't know how to write women; they're a raped victim, a mother, a damsel in distress, or a love interest turned plot device. Cute zombie apocalypse story though
This read like a philosophy on love and towards the end, the tone changed; it felt like the work reflects more of the author than it does the characters. It just a tad inconsistent. In writing, the characters always come first—still, a great study.
a trove of good ideas that buried itself in a grave of cringefest
Over-literal direct characterisation overwhelms its indirect counterpart, rendering most of the protagonists' pivotal and emotional scenes uninspiring and cold.
Interesting premises and motifs like all supernatural concepts tend to be. Still, it lacks the space for reader interpretation and for characters to perform nuances regarding faith v religion v spirituality. Which I understand are not easy subjects to navigate in reality, much less on paper.
