This is the story that inspired me to create this list in the first place. Genuinely one of the most well executed, thought out romances I've ever read. The characters are likeable but still deeply flawed and everyone's motivations are understandable, even when you know they're wrong. This webtoon just moved me in a way no other ever has.

"Based on the real life story of the first gay marriage in Japan. We follow the life of an young gay man as he struggles with family, sexuality, acceptance and eventually finds true love."
Really touching and relatable to every young queer person. Some panels made me cry but it also gave me that warm fuzzy feeling in my chest. At the end of every chapter there are auto biographical notes and photos added. 10/10

"An assassin is witnessed during a murder. Years later he stumbles across that very same witness and decides he must kill him, only to realise - it's a blind boy."
Both characters are deeply fleshed out and fascinating to watch. Especially the way intimacy is portrayed just made my heart melt.
Such a lovely tale, told in the most gorgeous artstyle. If there is such a thing as poetry in BL, this is it.

"When Masumi receives the news that the world is ending in 10 days, all he wants to do is shut himself off in the public library. But right there he meets the man he despises: his cheating asshole of an ex."
Genuinely so fantastic. Super unique characters, understandable motivations and nuanced discussions of forgiveness, morality, self-hatred and whether it is ever too late to live life the way you want to. 10/10

"Amongst the Amish it is common for each member to be allowed to leave for a year as soon as they turn 18. That year they are free to explore, travel, drink and maybe... Fall in Love. This is called rumspringa.
We follow a young Amish man in the late 1920s as well as a failed dancer turned prostitute."
Beautiful art and incredible storytelling. Both characters are complex and their stories feel super personal and realistic. 10/10

"A boy who has always wanted to be the hero falls in love at first sight with the person everyone calls 'maria'. But little does he know that person is actually a boy called arima. They grow, change and heal - all together."
Very sweet and simple story with complex characters and an innocent first love. Deals with heavier topics like gender confusion, identity, past trauma and empathy. 10/10

"In his last year of highschool he begins a relationship with another student that quickly turns sour as they suffer under the pressure of family and society. A few years later, quite a few things have changed. But will it have been enough?"
Such a heartbreaking story about past regrets and second chances. I think the most touching part of this is the way it talks about forgiveness and how people can change themselves for the better. 10/10

"An university student is envious of his brother. So when said brother gets into a relationship, he decides to look for one himself."
Very character focused. The plot is very simple because the story is 90% about character development. Super unique 90s inspired artstyle. 10/10

"Yui lives an ordinary and quiet life. One day a random man shows up claiming he is a psychic and that they are destined to fall in love. But could there be more to him than it seems?"
Twists and turns everywhere. Made me scream at my phone after every new plot twist. Very pretty art and a bitter sweet ending. 10/10
