I was pessimistic about the state of contemporary literature but I'm happy to report that Japanese manga is the last remaining stronghold of profound literature in the 21st century. I'll make a better review in the future but Homunculus was phenomenal. I would say that without an understanding of Jungian and Freudian psychology it may be difficult to understand this work of genius
