Our ML starts off ice-cold to our FL. Not wanting to be abandoned or killed off, she's desperate to look like she's harmless and hopelessly in love. At first, he's NOT her fan. I enjoy watching his development.

He's pure sex appeal. He's the kind of dude who would creatively torture someone for insulting his woman, wants to basically brand his woman, and could never desire another woman... violent, lifelong, obsessive love. I have problems, so I think he's perfect.

The ML gladly rebels and slaughters everyone with any remote connection to the previous emperor, his father, all so he can get his hands on a concubine he had once encountered. The art is gorgeous, and the art for the ML is just... yum.
Because of some spell/curse he bounces between adorable, platonic, sugary love to a possessive and mature love. The duality is so pure somehow, like his soul loves her in all ways. His persistent loyalty later on is simply delicious.
I didn't like him at the start. Background info shows up much later on and makes him much more suited for this list. Something still doesn't click for me, but other people may still like him.
This one is "too real". He has to get over an ex and has to grow feelings for the FL, but it is refreshing to see a situation where your past and feelings aren't always a clean slate before falling in love again. He's kind of mean before he grows attached. But..
the dude is just gorgeous. I'd chase him around if I was the FL, too.
